The International Belgrade Book Fair is the most visited cultural event in Serbia. As such, it benefits from an outstanding media coverage and also is one of the oldest and most important literary events in the region. Its main objective is to provide opportunities for publishers,
authors, booksellers, librarians, distributors of books, multimedia companies
and other stakeholders, to establish contacts, share experiences, make
business arrangements and obtain other forms of business and cultural
cooperation. All publishers from Serbia and most respected publishers in the
region at the Fair present their annual publishing production.
International Belgrade Book Fair is a 8 day event being organized in October
at the Hall 1, Hall 2, Hall 1A, Hall 4
in Belgrade, Serbia. This event showcases products like fiction, religion and
theology, practical books, antique books, computer books and periodicals etc.
in the Book industry.

The first Yugoslav Book Fair was held in 1956, at Zagreb Fair. In the following year, 1957, the Fair was moved to Belgrade, where the construction of a modern fair ground was completed.
The 60th Anniversary International Belgrade Book Fair was finished during the last, 2015 year.
In 2012, there were
150,798 visitors at the Fair. Based upon the organizer's data, in 2012, the
Fair was followed by 1.275 accredited journalists, of which 71 were
international. According to a research conducted in 2010 among Belgrade citizens
by Strategic Marketing, the Book Fair was chosen as the largest brand of
Belgrade.
The so-called
School Day has been organized at the Fair since 2005, which encompasses
organized visits of pupils, students, professors and school librarians, as well
as many side event programs intended for them.

In addition to these prizes, the Dositej Obradović Prize has also been awarded since 2007, to an international publisher, for his continuous contribution to publishing and promotion of Serbian literature.
